Day 1: Auckland

This morning you will be collected from your hotel and taken on a sightseeing tour to see Aucklands most popular sights. See first hand why Auckland is known as the City of Sails as you enjoy a trip over the Harbour Bridge. Visit the famous Auckland landmark of Mount Eden, a dormant volcano whose summit offers excellent panoramic views of the city and harbours. From this fantastic vantage point you will see evidence of Aucklands volcanic history, the most significant being the youngest volcano of Rangitoto Island at the entrance to the Waitemata harbour.

The sightseeing tour also takes in the Auckland Domain, the citys oldest park which is situated on a 62,000 year old volcano. In addition to these natural features the city sights tour also takes in the trendy shopping area of Parnell Village with its historical buildings that have been transformed into boutiques, antique, craft and specialty shops. Your tour will then take you along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive. Before dropping you off at your hotel at approx. 11:45 am.Later a truly captivating experience awaits visitors to Aucklands Sky Tower. (transfers not included) At 328 metres, it is the tallest man-made structure in New Zealand and offers breathtaking views for up to 80 kilometres in every direction. Travel up in the glass-fronted lifts to one of the three spectacular viewing platforms, or for more thrills and excitement, SkyWalk round the pergola at 192 metres up or SkyJump off the Tower! Relax with a coffee and light refreshments at Sky Lounge, enjoy a seafood feast at The Observatory Restaurant or dine at Orbit - Aucklands only 360-degree revolving restaurant. Sky Tower is one of New Zealands most exhilarating and spectacular tourist attractions, you will be amazed at what you can see and do under one roofNext is Auckland Museum (Transfers not included) The Auckland Museum expert guides take you through the galleries and describe some of our most important collections, taonga (treasures), objects and specimens with fascinating histories and stories. You will explore our pre-eminent collection of Maori and Pacific material culture, our unique natural environment, and the conflicts that helped shape New Zealand into what it is today. One of our greatest treasures is the building itself, one of New Zealand’s finest heritage buildings. Learn about its architecture, significance and decorative elements. The guides are extensively trained and accredited by the Museum, and they volunteer to share their special knowledge and passion for the Museum and its collections with visitors. Tours are available three times a day and last one hour.
