North-East India is the easternmost region of India consisting of the contiguous Seven Sister States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. From Tropical rainforests to grasslands, to meandering valleys flanked by mighty mountains, this region of India possess all attractions of nature, except the sea. The river Brahmaputra in its fury, assumes oceanic dimensions with its two banks lost to sight. Cloaked in tropical vegetation, the largely unexploited Northeast presents nature in its pristine best. The North-East India is home to varied number of tribal groups (almost 166). Each tribes has their own distinct culture, which gives them a unique cultural identity. Numerous of art forms and festivals of the region are intrinsic part of its rich culture and tradition. Many of festivals like Bihu, Jhum Cultivation, Ke Pemblang, Nongkrem, Durga Puja and Karchi Puja are some of the most important festivals, which are mirror to rich socio-cultural life of North-East India.

Day 1: Delhi

Arrive at Delhi. Our representative will provide you with assistance on arrival and upon your transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Delhi - Guwahati

After breakfast, transfer to domestic airport for flight to Guwahati.

 
Meeting assistance on arrival at Guwahati Airport and transfer to Nameri National Park (215 kms/ 6 hrs), 264 ft above sea level. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the Eco-Camp located on the outer fringes of the park. (tented accommodation-basic)
 
 
Nameri National Park - is situated on the banks of the River Bhorelli at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. Nearly 400 species of birds can be seen here. Highlights of this area are Wreathed Hornbill, White Winged Wood Duck, Long-Billed Plover and Ibisbill. Nameri is the access point to Western Arunachal Pradesh.

Day 3: Guwahati - Nameri

After breakfast, you will visit Ziro (320kms/9hrs), - the headquarters of Lower Subansiri. There will be an overnight stay at the hotel Blue Pine (Basic).

Day 4: Nameri

You will have full-day sightseeing tour of Ziro. Here, you will visit the museum, emporium, and the Hong, Hari and Hija Villages. You will also visit the local market. There will be an overnight stay at the hotel.

 
N.B.-Museums and emporiums of Arunachal Pradesh are closed on Sundays and Govt. Holidays.

Day 5: Nameri - Ziro

After breakfast, you will drive to Tezpur and check in at one of the bungalows of the British Assam Heritage Property (Silver Tips / Golden Tips / Second Flush). The accommodation is located on 22 acres of tropical land surrounded by tea gardens.

Day 6: Ziro

After breakfast, you will drive to Dirang (160 kms/ 6 hrs). The drive will take you through a magnificent landscape alongside the Kameng River. En-route to Dirang, you shall visit the orchid centre at Tippi. After lunch at Bomdila, you will visit the Buddhist monastery. At Dirang, you will visit the Dirang Monpa tribal village in the afternoon. You will have your dinner and an overnight stay at the Hotel Pemaling (Basic).

Day 7: Ziro

You will drive to Tawang (180kms/6hrs) with a packed lunch. Not only will you cross the beautiful Sela Pass at 13,700 ft., but will also visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial- to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who single-handedly tried to hold off the approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo- Chinese War. There will be an overnight stay at the Tawang Inn. (Basic)

Day 8: Ziro - Tezpur

At Tawang, you will visit the famous Buddhist Monastery, which was in the route chosen by the Dalai Lama to enter India from Tibet. Attached to the monastery, is a museum and a library with priceless collections. The monastery is one of the largest in Asia, and it houses about a thousand monks. You will also visit the craft centre that sells beautiful masks, hand-woven carpets, tangkhas, and jewellery in silver, turquoise, coral and amber. There will be an overnight stay at the Tawang Inn. (Basic)

Day 9: Tezpur

You will drive to Bomdila (185 kms/ 7 hrs) with packed lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Buddhist monastery and the local market. There will be an overnight stay at the Hotel Tsepal Yangjom (Basic)

Day 10: Tezpur - Dirang

After breakfast, you will drive to Kaziranga (240 kms/ 8 hrs), and check in at Iora-The Retreat. The afternoon can be spent in leisure.

 
Note : The park remains open from 1st Nov to 30th April only.

Day 11: Dirang

Early in the morning, you will leave for an elephant safari in the Central Range of the park, followed by a jeep safari after breakfast. Later, after lunch, you will drive to Dibrugarh (220 kms / 5 hrs) and check in at the Heritage Chang Bungalow for an overnight stay.

Day 12: Dirang - Tawang

Post breakfast, you will take a tour around a tea estate to learn all about tea - its origin, how it is grown all about tea tasting and its quality. Later, you will drive to the Tai Phakial village (80kms/2 hr) - an ethnic village whose kith and kin date back to the Ahom period. You will return to Dibrugarh late in the afternoon, after which, you will visit the Bell's Temple. In the Evening, you will enjoy a dance performance by an ethnic dance group on the bungalow's lawns. You will have your Dinner and the Overnight stay at the Chang Bungalow.

 
Please note: that there is no tea plucking between December and mid March and hence the actual manufacturing process of tea cannot be demonstrated when one visits the factory during this period. Factory also remains closed on Monday's of the week.

Day 13: Tawang

After breakfast, you will drive to Wakro (190 kms / 4 hrs). En-route to Wakro, you will visit the Empong Village to see the Khampti tribes, and also visit the Buddhist Gompa, which is considered to be the largest of its kind in the North-east near Namsai. You will stay overnight at Purvi's Mishmi Retreat at Wakro. (Traditional Mishmi huts)

Day 14: Tawang

After breakfast, you will visit the local Mishmi tribal villages to learn about their rich culture and traditions and interact with the Mishmi tribe. You shall stop by Parasuramkund- a pilgrimage site where thousands of pilgrims come every year during Makar Sankranti to take a holy dip in the Lohit River. Later in the afternoon, you will drive back to Dibrugarh (190 kms / 4 hrs) for an overnight stay at the Heritage Chang Bungalow.

Day 15: Tawang - Bomdila

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for your Flight to Delhi. You will be given assistance on arrival in Delhi and for your transfer to the Hotel. There will be an overnight stay at the hotel.Please note: Day free for independence activities.

Day 16: Bomdila

Transfer to Delhi International Airport for your flight back home, or to an onward destination.
