Description: About twenty five years ago, a renowned Buddhist Monk of Theravada Tradition Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan started his spiritual life as a humble monk and spent long years in meditation retreat in a village named Mocharim situated on the bank of river Niranjana. The Mucalinda Lake and The Rajayatana Tree under which the Lord Buddha spent and meditated on sixth and seventh week after His supreme enlightenment were in the village Mocharim. Since his awakening Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan has been endeavouring relentlessly to propagate Dhamma (Doctrine of the Lord Buddha) and to improve the quality of life of the people living in and around the village providing them with education, healthcare, food and accommodation. Ven. Rahul Sankrityayan has Built a Monastery and a guest house adjacent to the Monastery on the same place in the same village where he spent long years in retreat in his early years of monkhood seeking the truth. The Monastery Guesthouse is a place of retreat for individuals and groups from all walks of life and beliefs seeking to quietly share the simple life, prayer and meditation. Individuals and groups are able to take part in their own Retreats at the Guesthouse and Spiritual Direction is available on request.
