The Blackwell House is the oldest house in Canton. The residence was built for Henry F. Blackwell, II and his wife. Blackwell was an early merchant who resided in Canton and also served as the County Sheriff. Records state that the house was built in 1886, although many alterations and changes have been made through the years. The home was occupied by Blackwell family members until 1975. In 1988 the home was donated to the City of Canton by the family.
