The monument marks the exact location where Bishop Baraga chose to build his famous mission. The Bishop Baraga Memorial is also in the Assinins Cemetery,one and one-quarter miles north of Assinins. The Shrine is a life-size statue of Father Baraga as a lasting memorial to him.
The museum contains many exhibits from the local county, including a lumber camp of the 1800`s, impressive rock and mineral collection and Indian displays. Everything from prehistoric to present day artifacts (including Bishop Baraga) in our collection.
Climb up the stairs to enjoy the panoramic view of the Sturgeon River Valley.Found near the Sturgeon Gorge area.
