Deadwood, named for the dead trees found in its gulch, is a city in and the county seat of Lawrence County, South Dakota, United States. The city includes the Deadwood Historic District, a National Historic Landmark District, whose borders may be the city limits.
The Adams House in Deadwood was built in 1892 and the Adams House Museum opened in July, 2000. WE Adams began the museum in 1930 as a memorial to his family and to honor the early pioneers that settled the Black Hills.
