Macon is a city located in central Georgia, USA.The area is also home to several institutions of higher education, as well as numerous museums and tourism sites. Rich with history and architecture, the city has neighborhoods of classic Greek Revival and Victorian style homes.It has a number of well preserved old buildings, including City Hall, the Grand Opera House, Hay House, in Italian Renaissance style, and the birthplace of the poet Sydney Clayton Lanier.Location

This three story museum offers a larger than life experience for both the young and old and features an artist`s garret, a humanist`s study, a scientist`s workshop, and an enclosed backyard animal habitat.
The Ocmulgee National Monument is dedicated to the 12,000 years of human habitation in the Macon area. Earthen mounds and a ceremonial lodge are available for viewing.
There are 600 Confederate and Union soldiers buried in this historic, beautifully landscaped cemetery. Musician Duane Allman and fellow band member Berry Oakley are also buried here.
