It is a 1,350 acre wetland complex. Located just behind the beaches and dunes it is a great place for birdwatchers with over 200 species. But the state has restored 150 acres which stands in testament to the ecological richness of the area. It is home to six threatened or endangered birds.
This beach is popular with families .A nature preserve is located at the southern end of the beach, which located between Beach Boulevard and the Santa Ana River near Newport Beach.
