    Eureka is the county seat and principal city in Humboldt County, California, United States. Visitors are overwhelmed by the beauty of the giant redwood groves, untouched coastline, and six wild and scenic rivers. Eureka was founded in 1850 as a shipping center for Trinity gold mines. Eureka`s Victorian Heritage is preserved in its Old Town`s unique shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. Eureka is dedicated to preserving one of the finest and largest collections of Victorian homes in the world.

The largest selection of Northwestern California''s Native American basketry and Humboldt County settlement history, with an emphasis on the late 1800s, is showcased at this museum, which is situated in a 1912 bank building and is one of the gems of the North Coast. The exhibits on display include furniture, glassware, clothing, and other items from the Victorian period.
This museum provides a friendly, hands-on, interactive learning environment for children of all ages and it regularly presents over a dozen interactive and creative exhibits, including exhibits which highlight everything from a child-size grocery store to an "out-of-this world," three-dimensional planetarium experience.
This building gracefully houses seven premier galleries, as well as a young artists'' academy, a performance rotunda for music, dance, and the literary arts, and the administrative offices of the Humboldt Arts Council.
This national park lies east of Redwood State and National Parks in northwestern California, and it stretches southward from the Oregon border for about 140 miles. The park encompasses 957,590 National Forest acres and 133,410 acres of other ownership.
