Description
Evciler is a town and district of Afyonkarahisar Province in the Aegean region of Turkey, on a plain in the mountains behind the Aegean coast, 132 km from the city of Afyon along the road to Denizli. The district is near Acigöl lake and Isikli reservoir. The average altitude is 981 m. It covers an area of 235 km², and has a population (2000) of 8,104 of which 4,013 live on the town of Evciler.
History
The burial mounds of Kocahöyük and Kücükhöyük near Evciler date back to the Lydian civilization. Remains of pottery have been found at Öküzviran and Kocaviran settlements.
