The space in this gallery is compact and warmly lit. The walls are hung with oil paintings depicting Malay figures. A few are reminiscent of the style of some early painters, where the dimensions of the figures are exaggerated. Paintings of Malay (or Kampung) villages and fishing villages, still life of pottery, flowers and fruit, hang above cast bronze figures and stoneware.
Built in 1995, this statuesque tower that reaches an imposing height of 421 meters is currently the fifth tallest in the world. One of the distinctive architectural features of Menara Kuala Lumpur is a dome-shaped arch at every doorway on the upper ground floor, decorated with glass pieces that illuminate like giant diamonds.
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur lies a small hidden piece of preserved rainforest. At a mere 10 hectares in size, the Bukit Nanas is a tiny shadow of the vast jungle that used to cover Kuala Lumpur, but remains an important attraction for visitors who want to explore nature conveniently in the city.
One of the largest mosques in South-east Asia, this impressive building is frequently referred to as "the blue mosque." It is huge and magnificent with an enormous, dark blue dome and four minarets standing at 142.3 metres. Decorative Islamic calligraphy enhances the dome and main prayer-hall, while the overall architecture integrates ethnic Malay design elements. The mosque is adjoined by a small lake, which makes it a particularly serene setting, especially at sunset.
Situated 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia`s first international-standard water theme park. Within the 80 acres of the park are water-based attractions, such as giant water slides, twin speed slides, a river, a waterfall garden and a lagoon express. There is a shopping mall known as the Pyramid, which adds to the limitless range of activities at this theme park.
The Twin Towers are a remarkable architectural demonstration of Islamic art fusing with contemporary design styles. The Towers sit upon a 120-meter deep concrete foundation, built upon what used to be a popular race track in the city. From outside, the Twin Towers look like a pair of steel pinnacles, glistering brightly under the sun but it was actually constructed primarily from super high-strength concrete. Both buildings are connected via a sky bridge with an inverted ''V'' pillar below it. At night, the Twin Towers become brightly light like a beacon in the middle of the city.
The Wariseni centre is located at one of the entry points for the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. This place is dedicated to showcasing Malaysia`s wood-carving heritage, using precious local timber species such as ''Cengal'' and ''Meranti''.
