This small town hardly 100 kms from the capital of the country, Delhi, has been a prominent place in the history of India. Today a developing industrial town of the state of Haryana, Panipat, was famous for the important battles fought here in the medieval period. The battles of Panipat changed the course of historical events in the Indian political history. It is the birth place of the famous Urdu poet, Altaf Hussain Ali. A beautiful dargah of Qalandar sahib and the Pachranga pickles is what it is known for today.
Location
Panipat is situated on the banks of the river Yamuna, and here the three historical battles of Panipat were fought. This district is bordered by Karnal, Sonipat, Jind and Kaithal and the state of Uttar Pradesh.<br />
