Haflong in the local dialect of Dimashi means white Ants' Hillock. But actually Haflong is a land of pleasing blue orchards, pineapples and oranges. The nature of Haflong is a great attraction in itself and the picturesque beauty of Haflong Lake situated right in the heart of this hill town adds to the beauty. Here people of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian religions stay with perfect harmony. The best thing to do in Haflong is to enjoy the nature and its amazing powers.<br /><br />Sightseeing:<br /><b>Jatinga:</b><br />Jatinga is around 6 kms form the town of Haflong and is famous for its mysterious migratory birds. The folklore here says that the birds commit suicide over here. This has puzzled many a ornithologists who can see the birds actually diving down to death. One reason that has been attributed to this mystery are the lights that baffle the birds on moonless autumn nights, as they become disoriented and loosing their balance plummet down to death. This sad phenomenon, however takes lot of tourists to this place to watch the birds dying from a watch tower. <br />
